Alles over Digital Cowboy DC-SCDP1/256 Water-Resistant MP3 Player | rss feed | toevoegen | e-mail nieuwsalarm | Gizmodo | 2006-06-20 09:10:36
Can't be anywhere without those tunes? Get yourself the Digital Cowboy DC-SCDP1/256 water resistant stereo MP3/WMA player with AM/FM radio. It has 256MB of built-in memory and you can also slip in an SD memory card with capacity up to 1GB. If you don't have an SD card, transferring tunes from your PC goes quickly via USB 2.0. There's a kickstand in the back so you can prop it up in the shower, or you can hang it on the wall.
Since it's merely water-resistant and not waterproof, it probably wouldn't be a good idea to submerge the old Digital Cowpoke just to see how he sounds underwater. Yours for $85. – Charlie White

Alles over Sharp DV-SV97H DVD/DivX Upconverting Player | rss feed | toevoegen | e-mail nieuwsalarm | Gizmodo | 2006-06-20 09:10:35
This DVD player from Sharp is kind of a bridge from the current DVDs to the next generation, high definition DVDs. Except the bridge goes through DivX territory, so it's not really a bridge. Maybe a really crooked bridge. Perhaps bridge wasn't such a good term to describe it. Anyhoo, this plays back "DVD-RW/-R, DVD+RW/+R, CD-RW/-R, VCD/SVCD, MP3/JPEG/MPEG-4" and has "DTS/Dolby Digital/MPEG Audio Stream Output."
The player has an HDMI output which can upconvert DVDs to 720p or 1080i. DivX can also be played at high definition, which is nice for DivX encoded HDTV TV shows that you can download from the internet.
No price yet, but it should be available later this month. – Jason Chen

Alles over iSplash Rugged MP3 Player: No Wimps Allowed | rss feed | toevoegen | e-mail nieuwsalarm | Gizmodo | 2006-06-17 23:47:39
You're a man; you go to the beach and do masculine things, like kick sand in nerds' eyes just because you can. While on the beach, you rock out to Winger and other gnarly bands. Well, here's an MP3 player that matches your alpha male personality, the iSplash Rugged. It's a digital stereo boombox that works with your iPod or other MP3 player. The splashproof housing makes sure a little water won't ruin the good times and the subwoofer makes sure the whole neighborhood knows you're in town looking to do a little damage. That dainty looking handle? Why, you use that to swing the iSplash around as part of your ritualistic "look at my muscles" dance.
Being rugged with the iSplash costs $149.95. Testosterone not included. – Nicholas Deleon

Alles over Baseball Players Using iPods To Scout Opposing Teams | rss feed | toevoegen | e-mail nieuwsalarm | Gizmodo | 2006-06-17 23:47:39
This is an interesting use of the iPod: scouting opposing baseball teams. Instead of having to watch game tapes on a TV in the locker room with the other sweaty guys, players can take their videos on the road and study them anytime—including right before gametime. This lets players familiarize themselves with their opponents on plane rides, on buses, in the can, or even in bars.
Also, these iPods were handy come draft day, when scouts could watch draft picks from here and there, quickly making a decision on which player they wanted.
Our guess is that they even take these onto the field to watch a little Spongebob—they're just as bored playing it as we are watching it. Just kidding. We love baseball. That's the one with the hoops, right? – Jason Chen

Alles over JVC New 'basic' MP3 Player | rss feed | toevoegen | e-mail nieuwsalarm | Software Headlines :: Index | 2006-06-17 19:47:03
JVC has joined the mp3 ranks with it's new MP3 players. The Alneo range of players consists of two models, the XA-F57 at 512Mb and the XA-F107 at 1GB. It's seems strange to launch such low capacity players when the company's competitors are starting at 1GB but hey, who am I to say what will sell.Both models come in white, silver, blue, pink or red. and it was described to me as a bit 'girly' by a friend but this is just a matter of taste, there are far uglier MP3 players on the market. The XA-F57 is fairly basic compared to most of the Taiwanese and Korean players you can pick up for quite a small amount of money. There's no FM radio, nor any voice recording options, but at least it has a line input, so you can record directly to it from most audio devices. One feature JVC is touting is the 18-bit Sigma-Delta D/A Converter which is meant to improve the sound quality. A long term test of the device would be needed to test this so we will just have to take their word on it..
